MDA "Ride for a Cure" is Coming to Wendover!

Hi Everyone!

We have been working so hard to get ready for the MDA “Ride for a Cure” that takes place this next Saturday, June 7, 2008.  The Harley riders travel from Salt Lake City to Wendover.  Daniel will be the only child here to meet and greet the riders as they arrive.  I have posted an article that I wrote for the local newspaper about the ride.  We are so excited to participate.  Please check out our special page to get the full story. I put a copy of the article on our special MDA “Ride for a Cure” page but the original article is located at www.WendoverTimes.com.

Things here have been very busy the last couple of weeks.  Grannie Annie arrived here on May 25th.  We love having her here.  Daniel loves to play and sing with Grannie!  It is nice because it gives me a more breaks during the day to get things done.  I’ve also started working a few hours from home and I really hope to get to write a bit more.  Writing and doing some work from home makes me feel energized.  I miss work but would never sacrifice seeing Daniel’s great smile to go back. As most of you know we have a lack of qualified medical help here to take care of Daniel so it really is up to Justin and I to do it all….I just love having some different extra things to do!

Big thanks to Grannie Annie and Jancee for coming with me to the foot doctor.  They stayed with Daniel in the car.  He loved having a play date with both of them!  Jancee you are such a great friend!

Great news Owen is out of the hospital and almost home…..Officer Nicholas Pearl is home and continues to recover….keep the prayers coming for both families!

Hope all is well for everyone…..have a great week!

Kisses,

Connie

Daniel did very well on our trip to the Dominican Republic.  It was a long trip there and back but he was a trooper.  We did need the oxygen in flight so we are so greatful to Rich from Bennett Medical Services in Elko for loaning us the oxygen concentrator.  A very big THANKS goes out to Marilyn and her co-workers at Delta Airlines here in Salt Lake City.  Marilyn made our trip so much easier and sent us away with so much love and support.  She was also here to meet us as we flew back into Salt Lake City.  Marilyn's mother, Kathleen, made Daniel a special "jungle themed" quilt.  Daniel loves it!  As you can see by his pictures with Marilyn, he just loves her!

We met two other families while in the
Dominican Republic who were there for treatment.  Pictured here are Mathew and his parents, Neal and Susie.  They were so friendly and helpful!  We hope that we see them again soon!

Daniel's treatment session went well.  Daddy was allowed to start his IV, which I am sure made Daniel feel a bit safer.  We were allowed to lie with him in the hospital bed and the whole procedure only took a couple of hours.  The clinic staff was wonderful, especially Dr. Rader and his wife Debra.  We could have not asked for a better experience.  It is a little early to see improvements or progress but we have noticed some extra movement in Daniel's legs.  We try to get him into the pool as much as possible since he is able to move a bit easier there.  As you can see from the pictures, he loves the going to the pool!

We encourage all to write to us for more information regarding his treatment.  We try to answer emails as fast as possible!
