Daniel Celebrates Birthday Number 2.....Huge Milestone!!!

Seems like each time I update I start with an apology.  So sorry it took so long to get Daniel’s Birthday pictures loaded and posted.  We are so proud of how great he is doing and we celebrated this huge milestone with two great parties.

The day before Daniel’s birthday we invited some of our adult friends over to celebrate with Champaign.  Grandpa Lou and Grandma Joyce were also in attendance. Thanks to Ruben at our new bakery, we had the most delicious, last minute tres leche cake!  He did such an awesome job for it being so last minute! What a fun day!

On Daniel’s birthday, August 4th, we had his friends over for cupcakes.  He loved it.  He really loves his friends!  They are so sweet and wonderful and they make Daniel laugh so hard.  To top the day off there were two recordings left on my cell phone…one from Daniel’s cousin, Jordyn and the other from the Owen Johnson family in Wyoming.  The Johnson family sang Happy Birthday and Daniel loves it.  We play it almost everyday!

He received tons of presents and cards from all over the country.  He is so loved!

Our move to Vermont is getting closer.  We think we found a house.  It is such a great house!  It would only be temporary but it will give us much needed time to look around for an appropriate house.  Finding a one-level ranch type home is not easy in New England.  Daniel is just getting too big to cart up and down the stairs.  We are very excited by the move and Justin is really excited about his new job!

Grandpa Lou and Grandma Joyce were here for 10 days.  Daniel loved it!  He loves having them here.  Grandpa Lou really cracks him up!  He was sad to see them go!

Only one more month left here in West Wendover!  Daniel will miss his friends but this is going to be a great move for all of us.  Daniel will definitely have more services there and we are hopeful that being on the east coast will make traveling to the Dominican Republic easier.

Hope all is going well out there for everyone!

Kisses,

Connie

Daniel did very well on our trip to the Dominican Republic.  It was a long trip there and back but he was a trooper.  We did need the oxygen in flight so we are so greatful to Rich from Bennett Medical Services in Elko for loaning us the oxygen concentrator.  A very big THANKS goes out to Marilyn and her co-workers at Delta Airlines here in Salt Lake City.  Marilyn made our trip so much easier and sent us away with so much love and support.  She was also here to meet us as we flew back into Salt Lake City.  Marilyn's mother, Kathleen, made Daniel a special "jungle themed" quilt.  Daniel loves it!  As you can see by his pictures with Marilyn, he just loves her!

We met two other families while in the
Dominican Republic who were there for treatment.  Pictured here are Mathew and his parents, Neal and Susie.  They were so friendly and helpful!  We hope that we see them again soon!

Daniel's treatment session went well.  Daddy was allowed to start his IV, which I am sure made Daniel feel a bit safer.  We were allowed to lie with him in the hospital bed and the whole procedure only took a couple of hours.  The clinic staff was wonderful, especially Dr. Rader and his wife Debra.  We could have not asked for a better experience.  It is a little early to see improvements or progress but we have noticed some extra movement in Daniel's legs.  We try to get him into the pool as much as possible since he is able to move a bit easier there.  As you can see from the pictures, he loves the going to the pool!

We encourage all to write to us for more information regarding his treatment.  We try to answer emails as fast as possible!
